Saturday April 14

Picture Description
1. Sir Walter Raleigh's office
2. Tower of Blood
3. Tower of Blood that shows the different types of rocks used in the building of the tower.  4. Sir Walter Raleigh had his office in this Tower.
5. It is beleived that as long as the ravens that live at the tower of London remain and are alive and well, so will be the monarchy.  Their wings are clipped and there are three staff at the tower whose only job is the care and feeding of the 7 "royal" ravens.
6. The Crown Jewels are housed at the tower of London.  Unfortunatey no pictures allowed of the actualy jewels, but they are amazing.
7. Burial place of an elephant.  The royals from different countries gifted each others animals.  An elephant was given to the king of England.  It took about 6 weeks to get it to London and it died shortly after it arrived and was buried in the tower of London.  Turns out elephants do not do well on a diet of bread and red wine.
8. Tower of London is actually an entire fortress that at one time housed the palace.
9. Interesting building in London.  "London" is made up of the City of London, which is one square mile in size, and the City of Westminster.  There are more banks in the City of London than there are in Tokyo or New York.  That is one reason England stayed out of the European Union and kept the pound over the Euro.  The metro area that makes up London has 8 million residents.
