Sunday April 15 Yorkshire England

On Sunday we hit the road to go to Yorkshire England.  After we visited York Minster we walked to our hotel that overlooked the river.  Not much more to tell.  We had a group dinner at the hotel, I had the roast pork with roasted potatoes and braised red cabbaage.  Overnight in a great room, then up at 7 am for breakfast and off towards Edinburgh, Scotland.

1. Shambles Street, Yorkshire.  The buildings were constructed so that each level of the building extended more than the previous.  This street is where the butchers were and the over hangs helped keep the sun off the meat.
2.  Stained Glass in the York Minster
3.  Back of the large pipe organ, York Minster
4.  Another example of stained glass, York Minster
5.  Walking toward York Minster, a large cathedral in the town center of Yorkshire, England.
6.  Behind the Queen's College is a dormitory - very elaborate for a dorm!
7.  The Queen College, Cambidge England.  Notice how much more plain the Queens College is as compared to the Kings College.  Also, if you look just right of center in the back, you will see a balcony.  That is where professors stand and throw lists of grades into the crowd.  Students stand below in the court yard and grab the lists to find out if they passed or failed.  They still do it today because it is "tradition".
8.  Kings College, Cambridge England.
9.  Swim center for the Olympic Village.  Most of the buildings/venues were built so they could be taken apart when done.  They hope to sell them to Africa for the next Olympics.
